Competitions 2019
When planning a competition weekend, be prepared for performances on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. If the competition grows they sometimes will add a day. Usually Thursday. Once a schedule is prepared you may find that you do not have to attend the entire weekend, but you must be prepared to do so. There are no exceptions.
Approximately two weeks prior to the event, the competition company will supply our office with an itinerary. Schedules will be emailed to all dancers and their parents as soon as they are received.
We pride ourselves on being an organized, professional school and we do not request changes to the dance competition schedule (except in the case of emergencies or conflicts).

This is the first our 3 competitions for the year. There will be a Friday scheduled which will effect some of our dancers from being in school. The competition does try to put all solo duo and trios on the Friday first to keep as many dancers in school as possible. The schedule will be emailed and put into the parent lounge as soon as it arrives. Please allow for changes as the first schedule is a draft.

Champions Maple Ridge May 3-5th
This competition is a favourite and is our “Parents Choice” competition for the year. This year was difficult picking competitions because there were approx 6 other competitions on the same weekend. Located in Maple Ridge this is by far the best venue. This competition runs beginners first and progresses on to more advanced dancers. They have multiple awards sessions throughout the day and dancers are free to go after their session. The venue has underground parking at a reasonable rate. The nice thing about this venue is that they have a snack café and a bar. The dads favorite because at 4pm the bar opens and they can enjoy a beer in the foyer, socializing with other dads and watch the competition on a big screen tv while there. There is NO CHARGE for entry into this competition.
The changing rooms for this competition are located under the stage.
Many dancers prefer to stay over in Maple Ridge during this competition and enjoy the down time and socializing after competition. There is very little to choose in MR, but we recommend the Best Western. It is affordable, clean and close to the theatre. They come with kitchenettes if you like to take your own food. There is a complimentary breakfast and a swimming pool and hot tub at the facility.

Peak Abbotsford May 4-10
This is the last of our competitions and was selected because it is local. It is a long competition being over a week long. We are hoping that they scale back the first two days so we do not have a conflict. If runs from beginner to advanced, as the week progresses. There are many award sessions and we encourage all dancers to stay and enjoy the awards sessions.
WARNING PARENTS: This is the competition with all the swag. Children/dancers are very excited about the dance gear so be aware and prepared. They charge for entrance into the auditorium and the table where you pay this is the table with all the dancewear. They usually have an excellent assortment of cloths to choose from.
This competition also has a dance off at the end of the competition. What is that??? The top groups in each division are asked to dance off for the final overall award of $1000. The scores are posted throughout the competition and if your group is in the dance off EVERYONE in the group is expected to return to the dance off at the end of the competition.
